A cross-border climate atlas

AquaHub Climate brings together historical climate data and future scenarios in one interactive platform, built to support agricultural decisions across five zones in Portugal and Spain: Douro, Beira Interior and Terras de Trás-os-Montes, and Castilla y León and Extremadura.

What we do

Climate and agriculture, in one platform

The project combines a validated historical climate baseline (CHELSA climatologies) with bioclimatic and agroclimatic indices calculated by the project's research team, matched against the administrative boundaries of Portugal and Spain, to build a climate and agroclimatic atlas of the region. The goal is to support four key crops — grapevine, olive, almond and cherry — with clear climate information about both the present and future climate-change scenarios.

Where we are

Current status

All 5 intervention zones are mapped, with historical and projected bioclimatic and agroclimatic index data available in the Climate Atlas. Additional projection periods will be added as they become available.
